Moving On: From Nice to Sweden

Tomorrow, we bid a simple yet heartfelt goodbye to Nice, a place that has been our sunny retreat by the mesmerizing Mediterranean.

As we spent our last dinner on the balcony beside the shores, a short shower of rain graced our presence, perhaps a gentle nod from nature marking our departure. As we leave the warm and vibrant days in Nice behind, we look forward to embracing the fresh and serene landscapes of Sweden.

It’s a shift, a change of scenery, and a new beginning. We are eager to create new memories in what Sweden has to offer. Here’s to moving forward, to new adventures, and to the beautiful unpredictability that life holds!

A Day in the Picturesque Old Town of Cagnes-sur-Mer

Picturesque streets, azure waters, and the gentle whisper of the sea; welcome to the beautiful old town of Cagnes-sur-Mer, a hidden gem nestled in the heart of the French Riviera.

In the vibrant region of the French Riviera, where the azure waters of the Mediterranean Sea kiss the golden sands, lies the enchanting old town of Cagnes-sur-Mer. A place where time seems to have stood still, preserving the charm and elegance of a bygone era. As I wandered through its narrow, winding streets. Each corner of this town tells a story.

The cobbled streets of Cagnes-sur-Mer, where every turn unveils a new picturesque scene.

A Stroll Through History

As you step into the old town, it feels as though you are transported back in time. The historic heart of Cagnes-sur-Mer is a labyrinth of narrow alleys, adorned with vibrant flowers and lined with stone houses that bear witness to centuries of history. The gentle sea breeze that wafts through the streets carries with it the scent of blooming jasmine, mingling with the aroma of freshly baked bread from the local boulangeries.

The historic houses of Cagnes-sur-Mer, standing as a testament to the rich history of the town.

A Canvas of Colors

As I ventured further, I reached a street that seemed to be straight out of a painting. The houses, with their pastel facades and wrought-iron balconies, created a beautiful contrast against the deep blue backdrop of the sea. It was here that I took a series of photos, each frame capturing the harmonious blend of land and sea, where the old meets the new.

A Breath of Fresh Sea Air

The proximity to the sea is one of the defining features of Cagnes-sur-Mer. I found a quaint spot where the street met the sea, offering a panoramic view of the Mediterranean. The photos taken here were nothing compared to the real world with the sea serving as a mesmerizing backdrop, enhancing the beauty of the old town.

A Tranquil Night at Stor Räbben: Marcus Isacsson’s Glimpse into the Edge of the Archipelago

In the outermost reaches of the Archipelago of Piteå, where the calm waters gradually meet the open ocean, lies the serene island of Stor Räbben. This remote haven, the last sentinel before the vastness of the sea, recently became the canvas for Marcus Isacsson’s humble yet captivating foray into nighttime photography. Marcus, not a professional photographer but someone with a deep appreciation for the quiet beauty of his surroundings, managed to encapsulate the tranquil essence of this place through two poignant photographs.

A Gentle Embrace of Tradition and Nature

As the day gives way to night, Stor Räbben transforms into a realm of quietude and celestial beauty. It was during one such tranquil night that Marcus captured two images that are as grounded in Swedish tradition as they are in natural beauty. The first photograph features two houses, standing side by side, bathed in the soft glow of the moon and stars. The structures, painted in the iconic Swedish “Falu-Röd”, a deep red hue derived from the Falun mines, seem to whisper tales of history and heritage against the backdrop of a starlit sky.

The second photograph is a humble yet captivating portrayal of a small building, also adorned in the rich “Falu-Röd” paint. This solitary structure stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of tradition and nature that characterizes the Swedish archipelago. As it nestles quietly under the vast canopy of the night sky, one can almost feel the gentle caress of the ocean breeze and hear the soft lullabies whispered by the waves in the distance.

A Quiet Witness to the Dance of Stars and Waves

Marcus Isacsson’s photographs are not just images; they are an invitation to pause and appreciate the quieter moments in life. Through his lens, we are transported to a place where time seems to slow down, where the rhythmic dance of the waves meets the silent ballet of the stars.

In a world that often forgets the beauty of simplicity, Marcus reminds us of the peace and tranquility that can be found at the edge of the archipelago. His photographs are a gentle nudge to step away from the chaos of daily life and to immerse oneself in the quiet symphony of nature, where the sky meets the sea, and where tradition meets tranquility.

As we gaze upon these images, we are reminded that sometimes, the most profound moments are those that are spent in quiet reflection, under the watchful eyes of the stars, at a place where the land bids farewell to the sea, in the serene embrace of Stor Räbben.

Stockholm In October

In the realm of photography, I’ve always been an all-or-nothing kind of person. There are times when I dedicate countless hours to honing my skills, while at other moments, I may go two months without touching my regular camera.

However, the allure of autumn never fails to captivate me. The vibrant colors, crisp air, and overall enchantment of the season always reignite my passion.

Just yesterday, I awoke early to capture the beauty of Stockholm. The weather forecast had predicted a splendid morning, and they were spot-on! It was truly breathtaking.

Wishing you all a delightful autumn!

Words For The Weekend – Paulo Coelho

Some great words from one of my favorite writers, Paulo Coelho.

Avoid those who believe they are stronger than you, because they are actually concealing their own fragility.

Stay close to those who are not afraid to be vulnerable, because they have confidence in themselves and know that, at some point in our lives, we all stumble; they do not interpret this as a sign of weakness, but of humanity.

Avoid those who seek friends in order to maintain a certain social status or to open doors they would not otherwise be able to approach.

Stay close to those who are interested in opening only one important door: the door to your heart. They will never invade your soul without your consent or shoot a deadly arrow through that open door.

Friendship is like a river; it flows around rocks, adapts itself to valleys and mountains, occasionally turns into a pool until the hollow in the ground is full and it can continue on its way.

Just as the river never forgets that it’s goal is the sea, so friendship never forgets that its only reason for existing is to love other people

If You Want To Know Where Your Heart Is

This is a quote that comes in many shapes. I’ve heard it in my professional carrier as “Where your mind goes, your energy flows”, but I guess this one is a more private one. Anyhow, I think that there is a lot of truth in these simple words.

For Those That Have Almost Nothing At all

The day after New Year Celebrations in Barcelona, I walked around a silent Barcelona, and there was one image that really stayed in my mind.

This man; a few hours after thousands of people have surrounded him, cheering in champagne, launched fire crackers and so on, this man rested against a door. Alone.

He had his open can of olives, his shoes and a bottle of water. I just wondered, how did he end up here? Our world is getting better all the time (yes it is), and I really hope that no one, in a future not so distant will say there wishes for a new year, in conditions like this.

Lake Como – Italy

A fortnight ago, I had the pleasure of attending an entrepreneur conference in Italy. During my return journey, I joined three fellow entrepreneurs for a shared ride, and we collectively decided to pause for lunch at a picturesque village situated along Lake Como’s shore. I must admit, this location ranks among the most stunning places I have ever visited!

What I find peculiar is that I had traveled past this enchanting spot numerous times, yet never thought to stop. To anyone passing by, I highly recommend taking a moment to explore this breathtaking gem, with its misty mountains framing the opposite side of the lake.

Sara Isaksson / Anders Widmark – To Open Up My Heart

Sara Isaksson has one of Sweden’s most beautiful voices. In this clip she plays Anders Widmark:s (piano) song “To Open Up My Heart”. A great song that may fit well to tomorrow’s Valentines. Modest, honest, upright and touches the heart, and I guess those words all describe what a healthy relationship is all about.

Photos from Barcelona – New Years Trip

This year, I rang in the New Year in Barcelona, a city that has welcomed me numerous times, yet never ceases to captivate me. Its leisurely pace, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Stockholm, offers the perfect backdrop to unwind and escape the rigors of work.

On this visit, I had the exhilarating opportunity to attend a home game featuring the iconic Barcelona football team, an experience that transcended my previous encounters in the city. In Barcelona, football is not merely a sport; it is a fervent belief, a religion that resonates profoundly within the electrifying atmosphere of the stadium. That night, Barcelona showcased their prowess, clinching a resounding victory over Real Betis. Yet, it was the nuanced elements, the subtle yet rich flavors of the experience, that truly amplified the grandeur of witnessing Barcelona play on their home ground.

The Spaniards have mastered the art of savoring the present moment, a trait that is vividly displayed on New Year’s Eve. The festivities permeated the night, with revelers retiring only as the morning light began to grace the sky, between 6 and 8 AM. Here’s a glimpse of the vibrant streets at 10 AM, still echoing the joyous celebrations from hours before. 🙂

Stockholm – January

As those who follow this blog a little bit more in detail, you might have figured out that I like “clean” photos, in the sense of straight lines, and not to many disturbing objects. But sometimes it’s interesting to go in the absolute opposite direction, to take photos with many details, but still have interesting lines and perspective. A photo with many details also have the benefit that you’ll find new details every time you look at it.

In this photo I’ve tried to achieve just that. I tried to have the roads as the lines, and the opening at the right attracts the eye at the end of the little road. The girl with the dog keeps the rule of thirds intact and so on.

What are your thoughts around Clean, or detailed photos?

Manything – Use Your Old iPhone As A Home Surveillance Kit

A few weeks ago I discovered an app called Manything. It’s an app that uses an iOS-device camera as a Surveillance Camera.

The installation process is really easy. You just install the app on the device that you’re using, and on the device (-s) that you want to use as the surveillance cam, and off you go.

When Manything starts you can connect to the “surveillance phone” and watch a live stream, but not only that. Every time a person moves in front of the cam you can have a signal sent to you, together with a clip of what the cam “have seen”.

This must be one of the easiest download-decisions if you have an old iPhone or an iPad lying around at home.
